Soldering tips are used along with a soldering iron / gun. The tip gets heated when the gun is powered by electric power. The heat at the soldering tip melts lead which is used to solder components onto printed circuit boards. There are various types of soldering tips and it can be replaced on the soldering iron once the tip wares out.
